Root Canal Therapy
Traditional root canal therapy involved a lengthy procedure and a minimum of two trips to the dentist. Times have thankfully changed, and Dr. Gooch employs the use of advanced technology for quicker, easier treatment. From start to finish, including clearing infection, filling the root canal, and the placement of a permanent, custom-fitted crown, your therapy can be completed in just one visit. Our doctor offers compassionate care and is committed to keeping you comfortable while restoring your tooth to its full beauty and function.
Sedation Dentistry
We understand that trips to the dentist can make some of our patients anxious, and we are committed to providing you with a relaxing, pleasant experience. We offer a variety of sedation methods to ensure your comfort, including nitrous oxide - also referred to as “laughing gas" - and oral sedation. If you choose to be orally sedated, you will take a prescribed pill before your procedure, which will allow you to reach a deeply relaxed state. Patients who undergo oral sedation will need to be accompanied by a friend or family member.
Pediatric Dentistry
Our dentists will introduce your child to the dental care experience slowly and comfortably. Bringing your child to the dentist is an essential part of establishing good oral hygiene habits early in life. A first visit may simply consist of a chance to become acclimated to the dentist office environment and tools. We also offer a treasure box for our younger patients, so a visit to the dentist is always a fun, rewarding activity.
TMJ and Sleep Apnea Treatment
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder and sleep apnea may result from problems with jaw alignment, and are often addressed with the use of oral appliances. If your symptoms point to a problem with your TMJs, often the result of teeth clenching or grinding, an oral appliance can cushion your bite to reduce stress on your joints. In addition, snoring and sleep apnea may occur when the muscles and soft tissues in your palate and throat collapse. Oral appliances can gently reposition your jaw to promote open airways and a restful night’s sleep.
Dental Technology
Dr. Gooch is dedicated to using advanced dental technologies at our practice, meaning our patients can enjoy comfortable, efficient visits, and precise treatments. For improved imaging, we prefer 3-D cone beam technology which provides highly realistic images that are uploaded directly to a computer. Digital imaging is very comfortable and produces a small amount of radiation compared to conventional x-rays. In addition, intraoral cameras offer high-definition images of your mouth during treatment, and can greatly improve communication between the doctor and patients.
Tooth Extractions
In the event that we are unable to salvage the health of a tooth, our team offers gentle, compassionate care for comfortable extractions. If a deep infection does not respond to a root canal, for example, a tooth extraction can preserve the health of the surrounding teeth and jawbone. To prevent adjacent teeth from shifting into the empty space, Dr. Gooch may perform a bone graft, which acts as a temporary place holder. Dr. Gooch also performs wisdom tooth removal.
Preventive Dentistry
Our practice places a large emphasis on the importance of preventive care. Good at-home care and regularly scheduled cleanings can effectively preserve the health of your gums. And for patients who are exhibiting early symptoms of periodontal disease, we offer effective, yet gentle deep cleanings. We recommend fluoride treatments, even for our adult patients, which can also help protect against decay and cavities.
